App Review - ICD10Doc - Diagnosis, Procedures and Billing codes

On Oct 1st 2015 the US healthcare transitioned from ICD-9 to ICD-10. ICD 10 is the 10th revision of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD), a medical classification list by the World Health Organization.
The ICD-10 has different clinical modification systems. The US ICD-10 Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), for instance, has some 68,000 codes. The US also has the ICD-10 Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-PCS), a coding system that contains 76,000 codes not used by other countries.
In order to find the correct code, diagnosis or procedure, you will need an app or website to help you in that. One of the best services we found online is certainly ICD10Doc. The iOS app helps with finding the correct code - diagnosis or procedure – in many vocabularies, terminologies and coding systems in addition to the (old) ICD 9 and the new ICD-10. But the most important - CPT - which determines how much will be eventually paid.
The app and website also have all coding systems: DRG - for hospitals only. APC and OPPS for outpatient facilities. Anesthesia - completely different arrangement, Dental, Office visits, then all the quality measurement systems - PQRS, HAC. Also it will enable you to determine which codes are allowed and under which circumstances and several other features.
The app has quickly gained critical acclaim and is widely used in US. The search function in the app is one of the best you will find in an ICD10 app. The app precisely narrows the search down to exactly what it should be according to your search terms. That makes it a great tool to have it on your iOS device. Get the app for free on the App Store or visit the website.

Huawei has batteries charging 10x faster, 50% in 5 mins

Huawei has batteries charging 10x faster, 50% in 5 mins

In these days when smartphones flaunt octa-core processors of insane raw power, batteries have become the next most important and sought after spec. After all, the most powerful smartphone would be practically worthless if it lasted only half a day or so. Huawei, who also makes its own mobile processors, is well aware of that need. And now thanks to its Watt Lab research arm, it may have finally reached a solution, promising a lithium-ion battery that will leave even current quick charge batteries today in the dust.

The promise does sound too good to be true, but if Huawei pulls off without a hitch, it will probably be able to put its name on the front pages of the mobile industry again. The batteries that Watt Lab were able to produce were estimated to charge as much as 10 times faster than normal batteries. Of course that sounds all too vague, so here are some concrete test results.
One of the batteries developed carried a capacity of 600 mAh and charged from 0 to 68 percent in just two minutes. As you may imagine, this is going to be useful for wearables, thought the current form is still pretty much smartphone size.

The other battery is closer to home with a 3,000 mAh capacity. This one charges slower of course, but only so slightly. In just 5 minutes, it was able to get up to 48 percent, which could be good enough for 10 hours of phone calls on a typical Huawei smartphone.
Huawei is hardly the only tech company looking into better, faster charging batteries. But while many researches focus on changing the composition of batteries to achieve those results, Watt Lab has stuck with the common lithium-ion material. The difference was that it bonded heteroatoms to the graphite material used in batteries, which is claimed to speed up charging without deteriorating the battery itself.
Watt Lab's batteries have already been certified but only by Huawei's own test department. The company has not yet signified when it plans to put those batteries into production.

Apple plans to launch electric smart car by 2019

Is Apple trying to be the next Tesla Motors?

Apple has reportedly green-lit its mammoth project to build an electric car, and it hopes to have a new vehicle on the road by 2019.

It has been rumored that Apple was planning to step into the automobile business and now it is definitely confirmed. The company gave an approval for tripling the 600 employees already working on the project, code-named Titan.

According to different reports Apple has faced difficulties as a result of its lack of experience in the area. It has been rumored that the team may tap a company such as BMW, and may even consider using the i3 design as the foundation for the self-driving Apple Car. But only one thing can be sure, Apple is definitely moving forward with the project.

An Apple entry into the electric car market will significantly shake up the automobile industry and create serious competition to Tesla Motors.

Lexus created fully functional ‘Origami car’ made totally out of cardboard

Modern technology has definitely proven that you can design and build models from different materials. Speaking of that, Japanese car brand Lexus has reviled a life size, fully functional electric replica of its IS sedan. The main body, interior and wheels are made out of cardboard. But still, thanks to the electric motor this Origami car can be driven.

Five people from Laser-cut Works and Scales and Models (London based companies) were commissioned to design and build this Origami car. They laser-cut 1,700 pieces based on the digital model of the regular car, and stuck them all together using a water-based/wood glue. It took them 3 months to put everything together.  They used a 3D model of the existing IS saloon, which then they divided into principal parts, including the main body, dashboard, seats and wheels.

"Once we could see the physical pieces taking shape, we could identify where we needed to make improvements -- as with anything, there were some elements of trial and error, but as we had all the resources we needed in-house, this made the changes easier to produce."

The cardboard Origami Car will be on show as part of the Grand Designs Live event at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, UK, from 8 to 11 October 2015.
Still, don’t expect to see this car on the streets. It’s still made out of a cardboard.

In 2017 Japan will present world's first fully robotic farm

In a world where the population is only getting bigger and recourses are starting to deplete, the “old fashioned” way of growing food is just not good enough. Today’s world population is getting closer to 7.5 billion (more specifically 7.21 billion at the moment). Population of such huge dimensions is definitely going to need a lot of food, water, a place to live, etc. According to some accountings, 200 kg food per year is needed to one human being. That means 1 trillion and 500 billion kg food per year (7.5 billion x 200 kg).

Even though, recently there are some efforts of automation of food production, still its almost impossible to expect that the current food production will produce a quantity of food of those dimensions.

On the other hand, there are truly some breakthroughs in the field of creating artificial fields on which are going to be possible to grow different types of plants.
Japanese company named Spread in 2017 will open its first fully automated lettuce farm. The farm is planning to be a 4.800 square meter (52,000 square foot) fully-automated indoor complex that’ll cost up to 2 billion yen to build ($16.5 million USD).

According to Spread, there are six stages to growing a lettuce at a factory: seeding, germination, raising the seedlings, transplanting them into a larger bed, raising the vegetable and harvesting. The most impressive fact is that the whole process plus, temperature control, humidity, level of carbon dioxide, sterilization of water and lighting hours is going to be fully automated. People are probably going to be needed only to confirm the germination. Beyond that, every process is automated, it says.
Stacker cranes are going to carry the lettuce seedlings and hand them over to robots which will take care of transplanting them. Once, fully grown they will be harvested and delivered automatically to the factory’s packaging line.

Spread is going to go even further. Apparently automation is not the only news from Spread. The farm will also recycle the 98% of the water used in the processes. And, because the farm is indoor there will be no need of harmful pesticides or, insecticides (Is it possible this farm to healthily the food production?).

The Kyoto-based firm Spread already produces 21.000 heads of lettuce every day, but after building the new automated firm, they expect to increase their production to 30.000 heads a day. And, because apparently robots are going to be the next farmers, the new factory is going to cut labor cost by 50 %, meaning the cost for the consumers are going to be reduced as well.
So, it may be a problematic concept if you look from the cutting labor side, but in terms of ecology, and efficiency it’s absolutely positive.

Pepsi is making a Pepsi Smartphone?

Apparently one of the biggest beverages seller Pepsi will launch its first Android Smartphone in China.

There have been a theses about it on the Chinese social media called Meebo and, few android blogs are posting neat details about a Pepsi branded android phone being presented in Beijing on October 20. It will actually be a pretty decent mid-range phone called P1. It will include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, an octa-core processor from MediaTek, a 13-megapixel rear camera (5-megapixels in front), 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

According to the first leaked photo of the phone, you can expect it to be “packed” in thin 7.62 mm metal case. It runs Android 5.1 and, the price is expecting to be 1,299 yuan which is equivalent to $205.

PepsiCo Inc. share that the phone will be available only in China and that, another company will manufacture the phone. So, no the company is not going into the mobile phone manufacturing business. “But we are committed to engaging with Chinese consumers at this point of connectivity, and in innovative ways, to grow our brand,” it said.
The same as “Pepsi Crystal” and video game “Pepsiman” its just the company’s way of licensing its branding.

Google has increased the limit on the size of applications in the Play Store 100MB

Now the limit has been increased to 100MB from the previous 50MB. This decision is expected due to the increasing number of users who use fast mobile internet with higher monthly limit. Also, there are better hardware components that allow more space for storage, and managing applications.
If certain applications are larger than 100MB, or require additional files to be downloaded after installing the application, users will be notified prior to its installation.

The Oculus Touch

Everyday, we’ve are getting closer and closer to realistic VR, and while we’re not quite there yet, new innovations are cropping up left and right. The Oculus Rift has been on the radar for quite some time, but we know for certain that it’s going to be coming out in the first quarter of 2016. There have been a few other attempts at realistic experiences, but they’re oftentimes a bit too big for the living room, and are way out of our price ranges.
Where the Oculus Rift gives you sight and sound, the Oculus Touch is going to give you a chance to cooperate with your virtual universes in an entire new manner. There are a variety of ways to interact with these controllers including hand presence, manipulation, and communicative gestures. They look like a PlayStation controller split in two with a melted circle surrounding it, but it is said to act like an extension of your hand.
Each side has an analog stick, two buttons, and a trigger. Of course, just because the buttons are familiar doesn’t mean the experience is going to be. The gap between the worlds of games we’ve always wished to be a part of but could never really experience without the separation of us and the screen is closing inch by inch. Too bad that you’ll have to have oodles of money within the next year to experience it though as this is not going to be a cheap purchase.

HidrateMe is a smart bottle for water that will remind you to hydrate every time it feels that you are dehydrated. Although it is not a bottle that everybody needs, workout fanatics are going to find it useful.

The bottle has application for smartphone and you can connect it with Bluetooth. Additionally, it has the option to connect with workout wristbands of Fitbit or Jawbone for more accurate calculation on the needs for water. It also has a battery that can last for over a year with a single charge.
It is not surprising that the project already collected the needed money to lunch, so you can order this bottle for 40 dollars. Even though a lot of people don’t need it, it shows how the technology can became part of our daily routines like drinking water.

GPS, robots and unmanned aircraft - Technology that will see the fields of the future

All adults and mature people realize that food is not "born" in the fridge, but need to produce and earn in order to get to it. Much of today's food of plant origin generated by farming, in which huge areas with arable land are systematically processed to bear fruit.
After the transfer of this way of creating food people ceased to be nomads and secure its survival safer (by reducing the quality of the food because switching to food with more carbohydrates and less protein and fat). People throughout history increased the efficiency of processing of the earth to extract the maximum amount of food with minimum possible investment, but human performance has a limit.
Therefore the aid, several modern technologies that will enable the lifting of this limit over what is humanly possible. Using GPS / Glonass positioning of tractors, robots independently will plow fields or harvested fruits, and unmanned aircraft to monitor and examine the quality of the soil or fruit, systematic processing of the fields will acquire another dimension upgraded.
Imagine a robot that would be spent in the field and using different technology itself may pick strawberries, apples or grapes; to play pesticides exactly where they need to destroy bugs; or putting down fertilizer where soil lost of quality.
Drone could observe soil from above, be downloaded at certain places and to examine its quality, and then passed on to the surface where the robot to use fertilizer, and where more water. Automated tractor could alone to plow the field and more efficient than man, making maps for plowed and unplowed soil, which should be passed, and with the help of advanced algorithms to determine where and at what path to pass to be maximally effective in terms energy, fertilizer, seeds and the like.
Such technologies, and each other, inevitably lead to reduce the need for human workers. Marginalization of people in the workforce is a burning issue that has already created tension and will soon become chronic and can cause huge waves of resentment among people worldwide. It is time to devote more ethical problems with technology, not only to Terra headlong forward without taking into account the problems.

For the first time demonstrated creating words directly from the brain waves

Want to become a writer, but in fact you too lazy to write? Do not worry, help coming scientists in the journal "The Limits of neurology" announced their latest study, which demonstrate creating words directly from brain waves.
They have achieved this by using electrodes were implanted in the brain due to the treatment of epilepsy. Using them in detecting brain waves, they gave seven patients to read a variety of texts, including the Kennedy speech, Hampton Damp, and Charmed.
The software recognized mental "sounds" that created the brain and after some time spent in training and with the help of automatic fixer of words (auto-correct) reached well enough recognition of words that were not part of the speech they read. Certainly, it is necessary to further train the software to work for greater precision in identifying the brain waves.
It is not possible to detect brain waves without tap electrodes directly into the brain, and it can be detected from outside the skull is insufficiently defined. From one point of view, this is bad for Neuroscientists who want to examine this phenomenon without having to electrodes implanted in the brains of the participants.
On the other hand, this is a positive outcome if we observe the work through the prism of privacy. Namely, when scientists would have devised a way to directly read thoughts into words, we could say goodbye to privacy because somehow feel, that such software and hardware will be interested in various "security" agencies in the world.

Russian scientists are working on a battery that can run for 50 years

Ok, we know that current battery technology is catastrophic and have a battery that would last a week in the volume should be disproportionately great needs, but if you really need a battery that would last 50 years?
Russian engineers think - yes. After all, these batteries are unlikely to spread to the consumer market, but will find place in a variety of satellites and space missions. Namely, satellites now mainly rely on solar energy for recovery of their capacities for energy. This becomes problematic when the satellite is not in contact with sunlight because some other body (Earth, Moon...) located between them.
In that case it would be great to have a power source that is independent from the Sun, and also not be too big (as it is with today's battery technology). Therefore, the Russian mining and chemical plant will start production of battery based on nickel isotope-63rd The advantage of such a nuclear battery is small in size and huge life, according to which the engineers called the battery "eternal." Normally it is not eternal, but life expectancy of 50 years is practically eternal.
Such batteries can be used for pacing, telecommunications, various portable devices bearing the man, and who do not have good access to energy, etc. If you worry because this is a nuclear battery, please. This isotope of nickel is pretty poor quality and protection of the battery will prevent almost any radiation to reach you.

Google with its own bracelet for health monitoring

The health of all our matters. The main advice that I got from most physicians to maintain a healthy body is a healthy, raw food by reducing the intake of carbohydrates, regular movement and active life, regular rest and proper posture ...

To help in these aims many manufacturers as JawBone or FitBit, created various devices that carry with them and follow you as you are active, when lying, sleeping, etc. and in terms of giving advice or inform you if you are doing something right.

Now and Google announced its latest bracelet, but with a slightly different role. Namely, their idea is to wear a bracelet that information about your health, in addition to you will send with your doctor in real time. It is the bracelet sensing heart rate, temperature, exposure to light and sound and other information that can be collected from your environment.

With the help of sensors the device will establish a closer control of your condition and the effects of which are exposed from the environment, so your doctor can monitor and react accordingly. Still no details about everything that will contain this bracelet, but we would like to see a device that will be merged clock that runs on Android, and besides the above sensors will monitor your sleep, how many steps do air pollution exposure to electromagnetic radiation and the like. In that case would be truly comprehensive device that would take care of your health.

Corsair introduces new STRAFE mechanical gaming keyboard

Our friends over at Corsair more or less have their bread and butter memory products to rely on to bring in the dough, and these are no ordinary memory products but rather, ones that are on the high end side of things. The thing is, they have also learned not to place all of their eggs in a single basket, which is why it made sense for them to take the plunge into the world of gaming peripherals. It is also nice to know that Corsair has also brought along with them their sense of achievement, which means you would not end up with slipshod work on their side – and their latest product would be the all new STRAFE Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.
Corsair Gaming’s red-backlit STRAFE mechanical gaming keyboard would bring along with it dynamic backlighting for that added visual punch (and hopefully, one that helps you cast a mean aura to your opponents at BYOC events or LAN parties) as well as Cherry MX key switches, all for an asking price of $109.99 a pop. Being different from other gaming keyboard offerings in the past like the Corsair Gaming RGB Keyboard, the STRAFE mechanical gaming keyboard’s brilliant red backlighting is fully customizable, allowing you to have a virtually unlimited number of lighting configurations as well as effects. Not only that, hardcore gamers will also appreciate the fact that each of these keys can be programmed with automated macros via CUE (Corsair Utility Engine) software. Users are able to select from half a dozen unique lighting effects or to craft their own custom profiles as well as share them online later on.
Apart from that, the German-made Cherry MX red switches with gold contacts would pave the way for fast, precise key presses, while the fully programmable brilliant red LED backlighting delivers unrivaled personalization. In addition, there is also an USB pass-through port for easy connections, while textured and contoured FPS/MOBA keycaps accompanied by 100% anti-ghosting technology with 104-key rollover makes your gaming experience a smooth and seamless one. There’s now one less thing to blame when you lose your next match, I guess.
